The Educational Mission of Museums: The Example of the Cafesjian Center for the Arts
Armen Yesayants & Lisa Shirinyan

One of the important functions of a museum is education. But this concept has evolved far beyond simply visiting an exhibition to enrich one's knowledge.

For this session, Armen will be joined by art historian Lisa Shirinyan, the Director of Education at the Cafestjian Center for the Arts. Together, they will present what museum education means, illustrated through several important examples.

Today, the educational component has expanded into specialized programs and initiatives, effectively turning art institutions into centers of non-formal education.

In this sense, the Cafesjian Center for the Arts is one of the most active institutions in Armenia, where exhibition and educational programs are deeply intertwined.
